Here are the basic steps in understanding how to knot the sling on your tummy (Facing outward position):

 
Holding baby under his bottom places him in the right sitting position with his legs well in front and his hips pivoted forwards. In this way, we are assured that baby is well supported by his bottom and legs, that he will not be hanging by the crotch or swinging towards the front.
 
Sit him in the wrap.
