Mei Tai hip

Easy to use.

Here are the basic steps in understanding how to knot the Mei Tai hip:

,

Please refer to the demonstration of the knot with the Mei-Tai in front of you enabling you  to see the adjustments of the pocket with the cord blockers. Create a small pocket adjusted to the size of your baby. Place the right side of the Mei-Tai against yourself and attach the belt straps around your waist.

Place the baby, tummy against you, knees up and apart according to his tolerance, against your waist. It is important that the knees be well supported upwards. For a newborn, simply leave the legs inside, folded against each other in the foetal position.

Bring the material up against baby by grabbing each strap and pulling upwards tightly to keep baby close to you at a comfortable height while keeping his back nice and round.

Continue holding firmly onto your baby with one hand and with the other, place the strap situated in front of you on the opposite shoulder.

With the same hand, find the other strap in back of you and keep it as high as possible under your arm.

Keep the strap tight in your hand as this will pull up the baby tighter and free up the other hand.

Now that you are holding baby solidly and you have freed up the hand on the side of the baby, pass the strap back onto your back that went over the opposite shoulder. Pull very hard to get the baby to the right height, his legs well upwards and his back supported.

Firmly hold both straps. Pull until you obtain the comfort and position wanted.

, ,
Cross the straps under the baby’s buttocks before passing them around your other hip. When baby is bigger, pass the straps under his knees. In this way, the straps that pass under his knees will give even better support. Always make sure that the straps don’t squeeze babies’ legs. Make a knot on one side or the other depending on the leftover length of the strap.

You can also attach the straps on the back of your baby..
